I hope you are having a good day.
If you read my blog, then you probably know that last weekend I went to Olympia Beauty, which is a Premier Beauty Trade event for make up artists, beauty therapists and anyone who is in the beauty industry, and it happens every year. Hundreds of brands showcase new products, and give an opportunity to stock up on supplies at discounted prices.
I set off about 8am and It took me a good two hours to get there as I had to get a train, tube and then a bus. Upon arrival it was very busy and it took me a long time to find my bearings and walk to the Social Media Hub.
My Press Pass enabled me to learn more about the latest products, upcoming launches and network with other bloggers/press members.
My pass granted me access to the Press Centre and Social Media Hub, which was really exciting! I had a few complimentary drinks, a pampering hand/nail treatment by the lovely Lucy Tucker from Milk Beauty and received a free goody bag with a selection of beuty products and samples.
I couldn’t wait to check out all the stands, especially some of my favourites like: Dermalogica, Elemis, Essie, OPI, China Glaze, Colour Club, NYX, Inglot, Lauren’s Way, Sienna X, Amy Childs, Royal and Langnickel, Fake Bake and more. I loved them all! There was an amazing selection of stands (over 550). One thing I noticed, there were A LOT of nail polish and fake tan brands. These seem to be very popular in salons at the moment.
Celebrities who attended Olympia Beauty were the gorgeous Amy Childs, who I managed to take a picture of, Lauren Goodger and Peter Andre. I was gutted that I didn’t get to meet Lauren and Peter, but they weren’t there on the Sunday.
After a quick look around I headed back to the Social Media Hub to refresh and get a drink before the New Product Launch Demonstration, where we were able to check out some new product releases, as well as speak with the experts behind the brands.
I spoke to a lovely lady from the Dermalogica stand called Dani Garner about their new Clear Start range launching in October. The range is for teens and young adults, and it has been developed to synergistically prevent and treat symptoms of mild to moderate acne. Clear Start now replaces Dermalogica’s previous product line in the teen category, Clean Start. The new line addresses teen skin and young adult breakouts more directly than the prior concept, with more explicit product names and a complete range reformulation.
I then spoke to a nice gentleman called James Harknett, who is the ambassador for Sienna X. He told me about their new Q10 Bronzing Mousse, a luxurious new product with natural ingrediens such as blackcurrant, babassu and pomegranate. It also contains skin enhancing Vitamin E and the active anti-ageing Q10, leaving your skin feeling moisturised and pampered while protecting you from the tell-tale signs of ageing. It was very kind of him to give me the product to try, so I will be reviewing it very soon.
At the OPI stand I spoke to the lovely Nicola Byrne who showed me their new Christmas range by Mariah Carey which has 18 gorgeous limited edition holiday nail polishes. They will be available in October.
At the Jane Iredale stand, Lindsay Steward took the time to talk to me about their PureMoist Lip Colours which have launched in September. They come in 24 beautiful shades, they are very pigmented, creamy and rich. The Lipsticks contain vitamin A and C, nourishing natural oils and superfruit extracts. They looked and smelled gorgeous!
I had a really nice chat with the beautiful Ellie Lam from Elemis, she told me a bit about their exciting new Pro-Intense Lift Effect Programme to target 55+ mature skin, which includes a new hands on facial. I tried some of the products on the back of my hand and they smelled really lovely.
And last but not least I went to the Sothys stand where I was greated by the lovely Gosia and Graham, who talked to me about their latest products and gave me a sample of their new Energising Day Cream, which contains Siberian Ginseng extract, Yeast excract, Rice peptides and Lupine extract. I have already started using the cream and so far I am very impressed, so I will be doing a review soon.
Sothys is a luxury french brand exclusively available in Salons and Spas nationwide. After reading about it I was left very intrigued and wanting to try more from this brand.
So after a quick lunch and drink I went to the NYX stand which was absolutely packed. I couldn’t even get to see the products let alone take photos, I was being pushed around all over the place.
I stopped at Lauren’s Way stand, where I had a lovely chat with their managing director Nev, and he gave me some Dream Rollers to try out and review for you. (here’s the link to my review/tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eciplztq6_E) You can now get 20% off the Dream Rollers, as well as any other Lauren’s Way product with this special code: BEAUTY101 so check out the whole range at www.laurensway.com
Lauren’s Way has brought out some gorgeous Gift Sets for Christmas, the Lauren’s Little Helpers Set (on the left) and Let it Glow Set (on the right) They will be available exclusively to professional custumers from the 1st of November. (http://www.laurenswayprofessional.com/)
Next stop was OPI, where I bought a couple of nail polishes and some colour wheels. Then I went to The Only Way is Celebrity Bronze stand where I had a nice chat with a gentleman called Nick Hemming. As I’ve never tried their tan range before, he very kindly gave me the Bronzing Mousse to try and will be reviewing soon.
Here are some more pictures from the event.
Overall I had an amazing time, I met so many lovely people and discovered some really interesting new brands! I will definitely be returning next year!
