Winter Pampering at Spa London / Review

Who doesn’t love a bit of pampering? I believe that every now and then everyone deserves a relaxing pamper day, and Spa London is the place that I would highly recommend.

I was very kindly invited to a day at their spa, located within Ironmonger Row Baths in Old Street, so after a work meeting in the morning that’s exactly what I needed. I was given a robe, towels and some slippers and shown to the changing rooms. On my way there I noticed how nice and clean everything was and there was a lovely spa aroma in the air. I changed into my swimwear and went to explore the Spa facilities. I was booked in for the Thermal Spa experience, which consists of a variety of hot and cold heat treatments and offers you the chance to experience the health benefits of some traditional therapies.

I started of in the Hammam heated seating area, the perfect way to relax.
Then I went to the Hot Rooms (Turkish Baths)
which date back to Roman times and include the Tepidarium ‘warm room’ Caldarium ‘hot room’ and Laconium ‘hottest room’. These rooms are designed to relax the muscles and relieve any aches and pains.

One of my favourite rooms was the Orange and Lemon Aroma Steam room. It is designed to soften the skin, cleanse the pores, calm the nervous system and relieve tension, it smelled absolutely lovely and I really enjoyed relaxing in there for a little while.

Next I went in the Sauna and had a little lie down, I can only do a few minutes at a time as I do overheat pretty quickly 🙂 And to cool down I had a dip in the Ice Fountain, which was super cold but very refreshing!

Last but not least I popped into the Monsoon Showers, which was a really amazing experience,
several jets release scented water, creating contrasting shower experiences. They range from a warm tropical downpour to cool water, releasing a fine Scotch mist.

Then I went to the Relaxation area to get a drink and a little snack, while waiting for my next treatment. I had some green tea and fresh fruit and red a magazine, it was lovely and quiet and very relaxing.

Soon after my therapist called me, as I was booked in for the ‘La Sultane de Saba Ayurvedic Journey’ which was an absolutely amazing treatment! She started by scrubbing my whole body with some lovely smelling spices from the ancient spice route. Then I was taken to a private shower to wash it off and went back in the therapy room where I had a full body massage with some oils rubbed onto each key energy point (chakras), immersing all the senses in a feeling of absolute relaxation and wellbeing. My therapist used a combination of hands and herb infused compresses to massage my entire body, gently releasing heat, it was so relaxing.

I really enjoyed my day at Spa London and I would highly recommend it if you are looking for an affordable but yet luxury Spa. On my way out I was very kindly given a few products to try at home, which by the way are absolutely fab and I’m going to share them with you in my Winter Favourites (video) very soon.
