My Top 5 Beauty Resolutions for 2016

Hey my loves, Happy New Year’s Eve! I hope you all have an amazing night!

It’s the time of year when we all get motivated to trade in our bad habits in exchange for some new-and-improved ones. So here are some of my beauty resolutions that will lead you to a more beautiful year 🙂

#1 TAKE OFF YOUR MAKEUP EVERY SINGLE NIGHT

Cleansing your face on a daily basis is crucial for a clear complexion. If left on overnight, makeup and free radicals cause dead skin cells to build up, clogging pores and creating an uneven canvas for makeup application. Instead of waiting until you’re half-asleep and the bathroom feels miles away, wash your face as soon as you get home. And because we’re all about shortcuts to success why don’t you keep some cleansing wipes in your bedside table as an insurance policy for even the latest nights. I would recommend the Simple Kind to skin Facial Cleansing wipes.

#2 WEAR SPF EVERY DAY

Sunscreen is hands-down required for everyone, year-round, whether you’re inside or out: Broad-spectrum sunscreens protect skin from skin cancer and aging (UVA rays) and sunburns (UVB rays). The simplest way to get accustomed to using SPF (you need one of at least 30) consistently is to work it into your regular morning routine by using a moisturizer with a built-in sunscreen. I would recommend the Dermalogica Pure Light SPF50

#3 TRY A SKIN BRUSH

The air has much less moisture in winter, and the same goes for your skin. So this time of year, exfoliators (scrubs, peels) might become irritating.  An electronic brush like the Clarisonic Mia 2 or the Magnitone Lucid are two of my personal favourites. It might sound counterintuitive, but the brush heads are gentler than harsh scrubs and leave skin smooth, not raw. And keep on using it year-round: Brushes leave skin cleaner than typical splash-and-rinse washing.

#4 WEAR A NEW LIP COLOUR EACH MONTH

With all the beautiful shades out there, why stick with your same old neutral lipstick? Try some bold statement making shades like, pink, purple, orange or red, experiment a little bit more with colours there are so many gorgeous shades to choose from. My favourite lippie brands would have to be L’Oréal, Mac and Gerard Cosmetics.

#5 ORGANISE YOUR MAKEUP

If your dressing table looks anything like mine, it may resemble a graveyard of half-used products stacked haphazardly on top of each other. (If yours is the opposite and perfectly pristine, you can go away now.) In 2016, vow to organize your makeup, or at least know when to throw out a mascara or shadow when it’s expired. Also try and use up products, before you purchase more (it’s easily said then done I know 😉

One of my beauty resolutions would be to learn and own how to do my eyebrows! I’ve learned how important eyebrows are and I will be facing some job interviews more than a few times in my life so a great first impressions is tremendously important.

These are great resolutions! I really need to wear SPF more often! One of my beauty resolutions is to get in the habit of washing my makeup brushes more ofter.
