One of my top pre-holiday beauty treatments has to be a pedicure, but you don’t have to go to a salon to have one, you can do it yourself at home and it couldn’t be easier with some of the products I’m going to share with you in today’s post. A good pedicure should last at least a week, if not longer, just the thing to keep you looking good by the pool, or in flip-flops and sandals.
I would start off by giving my feet a soak to loosen up all the dead skin and then using my new Scholl Velvet Smooth Express Pedi* foot file (£59.99) It’s such a good beauty gadget that can be used both wet and dry. Electronic foot files are so much easier to use then manual ones and will save you all the hard work 🙂 Scholl Express Pedi is really handy and so easy to use, I like to use it in the bath or after a bath soak, it’s waterproof and great at removing all my dry/rough skin and leaving my feet super soft. It’s also rechargeable and comes with its own charging station so you can top up the battery when required. It has two speed settings which is amazing for buffing away dead skin, it’s pretty powerful!
Although it may seem obvious, taking off your old nail polish is an important first step to giving yourself a pedi. It’ll be hard to add a new color over the top of an old one! Use an acetone remover and make sure to get the bits along your cuticles as well. Trim your nails down to size then shape your nail using a nail file. Buff down the sharp edges and use an orange stick/cuticle stick to push back the cuticle around each nail. If you have cuticle trimmers you can cut away the excess cuticle skin that builds up over time. Rub on a little cuticle oil for a bit of added moisture. Use a clear nail polish as a base coat on all your toenails. This will prevent your nail polish from yellowing your toenails, as well as give it a nice base to stick to. Select a nail polish color, and paint your nails.
I’ve been loving the new Morgan Taylor Street Beat collection* which includes six super bright and fun nail polishes (£11.00) They look great on your toes and last really well with minimal chipping. The shades are opaque and you only need a couple of coats for a lovely pop of colour. I’m currently wearing ‘Hip Hot Coral’ it’s a gorgeous coral colour, perfect for holiday. Morgan Taylor is a quality salon brand which I actually prefer to my OPIs, the nail polishes are great quality and there are so many lovely shades available.
Elegant Touch recently brought out the new Stylist Range* of nail art stuff, which enables you to create endless designs with different stickers, jewels and gems! You can get as creative as you like 🙂 I am currently oving the gold studs and stickers, they look so lovely on my toes and fingernails. They are really easy to use, most of the designs are pre-glued and you can stick them on straight away, or you can use a bit of nail glue to secure them on the nail. There are so many different designs to choose from and all very pretty.
Finish your pedicure by applying a clear top coat, this will set your polish in place and help it to last longer without chipping. Wait a few minutes until your nails are completely dry and apply your favourite foot cream, I’m currently loving the Mandara Spa Citrus and Coconut foot butter* (£4.50). It smells so lovely and fresh and makes my feet super soft.
I hope you guys are having a fab weekend! xo
