So I have decided to start a new series called ‘Currently Loving ‘ as I stopped doing monthly favourites, so I’d probably do this once a week and talk about what product I’m currently enjoying and try and keep it short and sweet for you guys 🙂
You’ve probably all heard about the Makeup Forever Skin Equalizer Step Primers, I believe they came out last year but I never really got to try them. There are quite a few different ones available and there’s been a lot of hype around them so recently one of my PRs asked if I wanted to try them and I ended up choosing the Mattifying one as I’ve been struggling with a very oily T-Zone for the past couple of months so I wanted to put it to the test.
So the one I have is STEP 1 Skin Equalizer Mattifying Primer*, it promises to combat unwanted shine, fight against excess oil to ensure a matte makeup result. It’s formulated with Sebustop Vegetal Complex and is supposed to instantly reduces pore size and control shine for a flawless makeup all day long. It comes in 2 different sizes 15ml which retails for £13.00 and 30ml for £24.00. I think this is quite useful because you could purchase the small size to see if it actually works for you before splashing out on the full size as it is a little pricy. You can purchase it online at http://www.preciousaboutmakeup.com
The primer comes in a dark grey squeeze tube with a precise and narrow tip. The only thing that I think could be a good or a bad thing for some people is that it is difficult to squeeze. I find it to be a good thing because you have better control of how much product you would like to use, as a little bit goes a long way. The consistency of this primer is thick, almost paste like, it feels a little bit like glue, but not in a bad way 🙂 It dries completely matte.
The longevity of the primer is amazing! I took it to Glastonbury Festival to test it out at some pretty extreme conditions, as we had quite a lot of rain and it was very hot and humid. Actually when I first tried it, it did not work well at all, but it was due to the fact that I did not allow it to dry completely before applying my foundation. So make sure you let it dry completely before applying anything over it and you will be fine, it kept me oil free for most of the day, and my makeup did not budge.
So yes big thumbs up and current favourite! But please make sure you try it first before you purchase the full size as it may not work for you, unfortunately we all have different skin types.
I hope you found this review helpful and I’d love to know what primers are you currently loving?
Have a fab day! Victoria xo
