Day 2 of London Fashion Week; Saturday morning I was invited backstage at Edeline Lee’s show to observe makeup and hairstyles for the designer’s excellent new Spring/Summer 17 collection.
Makeup artist Neil Young demonstrated creating a beautiful, natural makeup look achieved with; A pop of blue/teal graphic eyeliner (Master Drama) all the way over the top of the eye, a dash of Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama mascara and Maybelline’s Master Strobbing Sticks. He applied the gold shade (strobbing stick) to illuminate the eyelids and then the pink shade on the inner corner of the eye, finishing off with a natural shade of Colour Drama on the lips and cheeks.
Senior creative director Damien Peers and team created the hairstyles using Sassoon products. The look, a simple yet elegant bun/top knot to complement the rest of the look.
I was very excited to see the designer’s latest collection. Each look had an individual feel, but the collection as a whole included prints, pleats and pastel stripes, which I loved. A nice balance of feminine, elegant dresses as well as slightly more quirky pieces, brought together with baseball socks and platform sandals.
I thought the studio set was cool with industrial images projected behind such playful pieces. The unique silhouettes were paired with colourful stripes and small embellishments, contouring the lines of the tailoring. Very contemporary collection, which worked really well with the studio setting.
I love how the models stood separately, like individual pieces of art, posing in front of the projected image backgrounds, which gave photographers a chance to appreciate the individuality of each outfit and take some great images.
In summary, it was a fresh youthful and very contemporary collection so if you’re searching for something original or statement, you will love it!
